As the weather heats up, there’s nothing quite like a cool, refreshing popsicle to beat the heat.
Making your own popsicles at home is not only a fun activity to do with your kids, but it’s also a great way to control the ingredients and make a healthier treat. Here are some tips on how to make your own popsicles with your kids:
Choose Your Ingredients
The first step in making your own popsicles is to choose your ingredients. You can use fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, or a combination of these ingredients. You can also add honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Choose ingredients that your kids enjoy and that are healthy and nutritious.
Blend Your Ingredients
Once you’ve chosen your ingredients, it’s time to blend them together. Use a blender or food processor to puree the ingredients until they are smooth. You can also leave some chunks of fruit if you prefer a more textured popsicle.
Pour the Mixture into Popsicle Molds
Next, pour the mixture into popsicle molds. You can use silicone or plastic molds that come with sticks. Make sure to leave some room at the top of the mold for the popsicle to expand as it freezes.
Add the Sticks
Insert the sticks into the molds. If your molds don’t come with sticks, you can use wooden popsicle sticks or plastic spoons. Make sure the sticks are centered and upright.
Freeze the Popsicles
Place the popsicle molds in the freezer and freeze them for at least 4-6 hours or until they are completely frozen. Once frozen, run the molds under warm water for a few seconds to release the popsicles.
