Light of the World Movie for Families: A Meaningful Experience for Kids and Parents

As a Christian mom of three kids under ten, I’ve sat through my fair share of animated Bible stories. Some are sweet. Some are forgettable. But friends, Light of the World? This one was different. I had the opportunity to attend a prescreening of the full-length animated film, and I can honestly say—I was wiping tears from my eyes before the credits rolled.

This wasn’t just a movie night. It felt like a ministry moment.

A Film That Speaks to Hearts of All Ages

The animation was beautiful, but what gripped me most was how Jesus was portrayed. Gentle. Strong. Kind. Real. The movie walks through His ministry—from His baptism to His miracles, all the way to His death and resurrection—and it does so in a way that even my kindergartener could follow, but with enough depth that I, too, was reminded of the Savior I love.

There’s something powerful about seeing the Gospel told in a fresh way. It’s like I was watching stories I’ve read a hundred times—Jesus healing the blind, calming storms, welcoming little children—and it all felt new again.

My Kids Were Glued (and That’s Saying Something)

All three of my kiddos sat through the entire screening without getting fidgety—miracle number one! Miracle number two? They wouldn’t stop talking about it on the way home. My daughter asked why Jesus had to die. My son wanted to know more about the man on the mat who was healed. That night, we had one of the best faith conversations we’ve ever had.

And isn’t that what we want, mommas? We want our children not just to hear the Gospel, but to see it, to feel it, to start asking the big questions—and to come face-to-face with the One who loves them most.

Why I’m All In on the Curriculum and Facebook Group Too

After seeing the film, I immediately went to lightoftheworld.com to check out their FREE seven-week children’s curriculum. It lines up with the movie and is packed with lessons, memory verses, and simple family activities. It’s so well done—totally doable whether you’re a Sunday School teacher or a mom leading devotions at home.

And don’t even get me started on the Facebook group (Light of the World Curriculum)! It’s such a welcoming little corner of the internet, full of moms and ministry leaders encouraging each other, sharing ideas, and praying for one another. It feels like a hug.

Mom to Mom: Don’t Miss This

I left the theater feeling something I don’t often feel after a movie: hope. Not just hope for my kids’ hearts, but hope that there are tools out there—like this film and curriculum—that are helping families keep Jesus at the center.

So momma, if you’re looking for something meaningful to share with your kids—something that speaks truth, invites questions, and paints a clear picture of God’s love—Light of the World is it.

Let this be more than a movie. Let it be a moment where God’s light fills your home.
